19-year-old teenage midfielder Abdoul Moumouni DARENKOUM has been voted man of the match in Niger’s 0-0 draw against Libya in an exciting but fruitless CHAN 2020 group B opening game on Sunday at the newly-constructed Japoma Stadium in Douala-Cameroon.
Just like he did in the Pre-CHAN invitational Tournament earlier this year in Cameroon, Darenkoum caught the attention of the CAF technical studies team across 90 minutes with his intelligent play in the midfield which helped Niger dominate the duels in the middle of the park throughout the game.
The Award is an added reward to the disciplined Niger side that also took a point from the clash against the 2014 CHAN champions – Libya.
Speaking post-match Abdoul lamented on how poor finishing cost his side and dedicated the man of the match award to the entire team, stating to the kick442.com on-site reporters that he couldn’t have been man of the match without the efforts of his mates.
Niger face Congo Republic in their next CHAN 2020 fixture in three days and conclude the group games against DR Congo on January 25th – All their group games will be played in Douala.
