The acting Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football, Abdel-Moneim Bah has hinted the postponed 2019/2020 CAF Champions League semi finals games postponed last week could be played in the summer.
Speaking in a televised show on Egyptian TV station ON TIME, Bah catégorically denied rumours of a possible cancelation of the current CAF inter-club competitions.
“Our intention is to play the inter-club semi finals games in mid June, July or August at most, and there is no intention to cancel it at all:Bah declared.
The outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic punctured the Confederation’s plans of holding the last inter-club game for this season [The CAF Champions league final] on May 29 in Cameroon.
The football world has been bogged down by the situation forcing CAF to postpone all on-the-pitch events and a handful of events off-the-pitch.
Fortunately for lovers of the beautiful game on the continent and beyond, CAF boss Ahmad Ahmad and his team are keen on having the events but not at the expense of the health security of stakeholders.
The 54 members institution will bring their ball to the center circle once the World Health Organization blast their whistle for kick off of football events.
Bah’s declarations leaves delights on the faces of fans of Egyptian side Al Ahly whose club face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, while Raja Casablanca of Morocco face Egyptian side Zamalek in the other semi final.
The final will be played at the Japoma stadium in Douala.
In the CAF Confederation Cup,Guinean side Horoya AC face Pyramids FC of Egypt while other semi final is a Moroccan derby as RS Berkane confront Hassania Agadir.
The Confederation cup final will be held in Casablanca.
