Coach of the Cameroon U20 Women’s team, Charles Kamdem told reporters few hours in Morocco before the breathtaking encounter against Nigeria that, the junior Lionesses must go through Nigeria to get to their objective in Morocco (winning gold medal) in their category.
A game between Cameroon and Nigeria always promises fireworks due to the bad blood running down from the senior teams in the continent and world’s stages.
Coach Kamdem said:”there is a good spirit around the team. The girls are happy for the moment. We trained in good conditions, and also, there are no worrying cases. the girls are ready for tomorrow”, he added “we have seen Nigeria play and we know how we would tackle them”.
“It is a good Nigerian team but we are also ready. We have put up several strategies to take our team to the end”.
“We know Nigeria has the technicians but that’s not a problem for us -we know we equally have to battle for results”
The junior Lionesses were winners against Zambia courtesy the use of forfeiture in the first match day.
When coach Kamdem was asked on if it could cause an impact, he said “it is good to win the game by forfeiture but it needed that we started the competition like Nigeria has done, but, that wouldn’t be a problem. The girls know that we are here for the gold medal and to get the gold medal we have to go through Nigeria – so, I think that they know what to do tomorrow so we win this game”.
South Africa is lodged in the same group as Cameroon and Nigeria and eagerly waiting for the outcome of this game after heavily loosing to Nigeria 3-0 on the opening day. The gaffer prefers taking it one game at a time, as he indicated: “the most important game is tomorrow’s game with Nigeria”.
“We would have to prepare quite well against SA but it’s a step at a time”.
It promises to be an old time crunching classic between two nations who have never liked each other in football terms. The match is scheduled to take place at the Chenes stadium at 5 pm CAT.
