In two games so far featuring for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 33rd, second 24 nations African Cup of Nations 2021, Cameroon’s international left-back Nouhou Tolo has written his name in the books of reliable defenders for the Lions.
After exhausting an efficient 78 minutes against The Walya of Ethiopia at the Olembe Stadium Thursday January 13, counting for the second round of AFCON 2021, the former Rainbow FC of Bamenda Player Nouhou Tolo has been on the lips of every Cameroonian who watched that encounter, tagging him as the future for Cameroon defence.
The number 25 shirt defender, physically fit, made several saves and clearance at the back yard which enabled his side back home all three points in a 4#1 thriller. Over 90% of counter attacks launched by the Ethiopians were easily intercepted by the 24-year-old.
Effective collaboration, perfect ball possession and control, Cross Ins and attacking spirit characterized Tolo’s game time till he was substituted for Oyongo Bitolo at the 78 minutes.
Nouhou Tolo started his football career with North West regional outfit Rainbow FC of Bamenda in 2015 before flying to the USA where he has been plying his trade with Seattle Sounders FC thouhj currently on loaned with Tacoma Defiance.
In the Lions Den, Tolo joined Cameroon’s U20 team in 2017, was later promoted to the senior men’s National team same year.
With such talent, Cameroon’s future in the defensive compartment is safe.
