20-year old Cameroonian midfielder Mbella Etouga Franck scored his first goal for aspiring Ghanaian Champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday in a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to newly-promoted Real Tamale Union.
The eventful encounter counting for Match-Day 8 of the 2021-2022 top-flight Championship surprisingly produced only two goals with David Abagna being the scorer for the visitors.
Mbella and Mfegue Georges- his compatriot with whom he joined Kotoko in October started together for the first time this season and gave a good account of themselves, though the result was unsatisfactory.
Though both sides were on the front foot in the opening exchanges, there wasn’t a goal to complement the efforts.
Mfegue Georges was brought down in the opposition box at the expense of a penalty on the struck of half-time.
Unfortunately for Kotoko, dead ball specialist and skipper Adboul Ganiyu put the ball off target.
After 45 minutes, Real Tamale were second best but the score was still goalless.
Barely two minutes upon resumption, Kotoko took the lead through Mbella Etouga Franck fed by Mfegue Georges to score a goal made in Cameroon.
David Abagna equalized for the visitors in the 70th minute and they held on till the end.
Etouga was replaced in the 75th minute while Mfegue lasted the duration of the encounter.
The former AS Fortuna midfielder has scored once in four appearances this season while Mfegue counts two goals in four games too.
Both Cameroonians are quickly still settling to life in Kumasi.
Kotoko drops to third with 14 points and a game in hand while Real are on the eight spot.
Kotoko are away to relegation threatened Legon City on Sunday.
