Kenyan athlete, Eliud Kipchoge had said after his historic race in INEOS159 that he ”(I) wanted to send a message to the world,” Kipchoge said, “that no human is limited.” after he broke the 2-hour mark in the marathon race.

He broke the sub 2 hour barrier with 1:59:40.2 in a thrilling and emotional end on Saturday in Vienna.

The Olympian had organized the race with the help of friends from different part of the works who joined the race as Kipchoge made history.

Athletes, Bernard Lagat OLY, Augustine Choge, Abdi Nageeye were part of the final takeover as the race moved to its final lap.

In 2012 Eliud Kipchoge didn’t make the Olympic team. He was very upset. He took on the marathon, mastered and perfected it. His ultimate athletics success has come in the marathon.

Last year he said – “Life is full of bumps, never give up.Tomorrow’s laughter is better than today’s.”

It was obvious that Eliud Kipchoge and marathon had accepted each other and in 2018, he broke the Marathon World record Holder with 2:01:39 becoming the first man to run it under 2:02 emerging as the Marathon Olympic champion.

The Kenyan athlete had definitely worked for this as Trouw said ”He trained for four and a half months, but he lives with this idea for many years.”

Paul Tergat after the race, described the achievement as ”Phenomenal!!! Kenya once again has shown the way..breaking barriers. Eliud has given us another iconic mark. Personally, I am proud, excited and delighted as a Kenyan, former marathoner and sports leader.”

Kipchoge has done marathons in times such as 2:05 , 2:04 , 2:03 ,2:02, 2:01, 2:00 and the historic,1:59.

”I don’t know where the limits are, but I would like to go there. Today we went to the Moon and came back to earth! I am at a loss for words for all the support I have received from all over the world.

Thank you to all who gave me the opportunity. Asante.” The record breaker said.

It may not have been an official world record, because of the use of rotating pacemakers and because Kipchoge was handed his drinks from a bike, but it was still the fastest marathon ever run. At long last, the impossible dream had become a reality.
