This online portal has learnt that Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially decided to bid to host the 2023 Under-17 AFCON tournament scheduled for March 2023.
Officials of FAF in collaboration with government have selected the new stadium in Oran, the 5-July stadium in Algiers, and Mustapha-Tchaker in Blida as possible host venues, for the organization of the 15th edition of the 2023 Under-17 African Nations (U-17 AFCON -2023) and will submit bid to the Confederation of African football before deadline day.
Algeria were the U17 AFCON host in 2009 and finished runners-up to Gambia.
Last month FAF confirmed that they had secured the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJS), to present Algeria’s candidacy to host the 12-nations tournament.
Algeria missed their comeback to the tournament last month when the 14th edition which was to be played this year in Morocco (March 13-31), was canceled due to the resurgence of the Corona Virus pandemic on the continent.
Though Zambia has openly expressed interest in hosting the 2021 edition, nothing has been said by CAF on the subject.
