The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has issued a fine and ban on MKO Stadium, Abuja following the incident that occurred after the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Playoffs game between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana on March 29, 2022.
A fine of 150,00 Swiss Franc and one match without spectators was handed to the stadium by FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
The decision was taken based on the incident of order and security at matches.
Failure to implement the existing safety rules and failure to ensure that law and order are maintained in the stadium.
Moreso, invasion of the field of play and throwing of objects were also given as reasons for the fine cum ban.
Nigeria and Ghana played out a 1-1 draw in the return leg ensuring that Ghana qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on away goals.
The incident was not taken likely by Abuja fans at the stadium, leading to post-match fracas.
