The Under-20 women’s Football team of Cameroon have advanced to the third and final round if the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The team were supposed to play against neighbors Gabon this Saturday in Douala-Cameroon and next weekend in Libreville, counting for the third qualifying round, but the game has been abandoned.
According to a release by the media officer of the team Nelly Mete, their Gabonese counterparts will not travel to Cameroon.
CAF has since confirmed the withdrawal of Gabon through its communication.
“To all parties concerned by matches 61 and 62 Cameroon VS Gabon, FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022. We regret to inform you that we have just received the withdrawal of the Gabonese federation”, a CAF letter read.
This means coach Josephine Ndoumou Mike and her charges will get enough time to prepare for their next game in the world cup qualifiers.
kick442.com understands, the team will break camp immediately and wait till it is convened for the next assignment.
Cameroon who knocked out DR Congo in the previous round of the qualifiers are seeking to reach their maiden FIFA World Cup tournament in the category of women’s Football.
