Ahead of the double header between the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia and the Eagles of Mali Micky Jnr has reported 35,000 fans have been approved to watch the FIFA World Cup playoff scheduled for Friday March 25, 2022.
The Eagles’ showpiece shall first be hosted by Mali before traveling three days later to Tunisia at the Stade Olympique de Rades where 35,000 supporters are expected as both teams are in a quest for a qualification ticket to Qatar later this years.
Mali’s Eagles graduated from group as group leaders with 16 points picked up in six games. Five wins and a draw in a group of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. While the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia led group B with 13 points four victories, a draw and one defeat and are coming in hoping for a fifth World Cup participation.
The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia’s débute for the World Cup dates back in 1978 in Argentina. They became the first African team to win a World Cup game, defeating Mexico 3–1 in Rosario but couldn’t by pass the group stage and only returned to the World Cup twenty years later in 1998 and finished bottom with just a point. From 1998, Tunisian National team then took a consistent four years routine for the World Cup, 1998, 2002 and 2006. They constituted the five teams that represented Africa at the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Head coach Mohamed Magassouba and his Eagle boys are hoping to make their debut in a FIFA World Cup competition in history since the tournament was initiated in 1930.
