Group A and B of the 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) LaLiga U-15 Promises were concluded on Thursday as four teams made it to the quarter-final at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.
In Group A, Kano Pillars defeated MFM FC 3-0 to top the group thanks to goals from Bashir Muhammad, Idris Khamis, and Shamsudeen Rabiu.
Lobi Stars bowed out of the tournament by doing MFM FC a favour of defeating Plateau United 2-1.
Abater Karshima and Iortyer Sesugh scored two goals for Lobi Stars within the first ten minutes of the game.
Kelvin Adeyemo’s 55th-minute goal was mere consolation as both sides crashed out of the tournament.
Kano Pillars and MFM FC progressed to the quarter-final from Group A.
In Group B, the top-of-the-table clash between Katsina United and Shooting Stars produced the first draw of the tournament as Shooting Stars hold Katsina United to a 1-1 draw.
The two goals came in the second half after a keenly contested first half.
Kasimu Abdullahi gave Katsina United the lead in the 47th minute before a late goal from Ajayi Samuel restored parity.
Shooting Stars and Katsina United finished the group with four points apiece but the former topped the group on superior goal difference.
Kano Pillars will face the Group D runners-up on Monday while MFM FC will square up with Group D winners.
