Victoria United of Limbe whitewashed Ajax of Maroua 5-1 to grab all three points in Match day 1 of the 2021/22 edition of the National Interpoles hosted by Limbe, South West region of the country.
Prolific Opopo attacker, Desire Kanou was on target for his side, scoring four in the both halfs of the game, to give Victoria United the top spot in Pool B.
Desire Kanou, scored a stunning goal that took even the goalkeeper by surprise at the 13th minute of play,who thought he was not in danger since the goal came while Opopo was trying to recover from a just squandered corner kick.
After squandering a one on one opportunity with goalkeeper Nazirou Boukary of Ajax to put his boys ahead at the 4th minute, Captain of Victoria United, Mbuh Paul caused the second goal for his side through a penalty.
Barely nine minutes after the first goal, Desire Kanou this time, netted from the spot after Mbuh Paul won his side a penalty for being brought down in the box. He made it 2-0.
Victoria United was able to record a third goal but Kanou, failed to complete a hat trick as he headed from an offside position.
The boys from Limbe exhibited Class and nothing less of dominance throughout the first segment of the game,seperating for the break on a 2-0 scoreline.
Few minutes gone into the second half, coach Djibrilla Harouna made three substitutions at once hoping to change the face of the game yet it didn’t work out for him.
A well calculated assist from Joseph Jeannot Koffo to No body in particular, saw Disire Kanou once again swiftly take the opportunity to complete his hat trick at the 58th minute.
Just when Ajax thought that could be all for the game seeing their efforts to pull one back, Captain Mbuh Paul cross passed their defense compartment to meet face to face with goalkeeper Nazirou once again and this time around, it was goal number Four for the sea side boys at the 67th minute.
Before the visitors could get a hold of themselves after exhausting all their substitution for the game, goal poacher, Desire Kanou woke them up from slumber with the 5th goal, two minutes after the 4th.
An Underperformed Maroua side wer e no match for South West’s representative in both halfs but they were able to cancel Victoria United’s clean sheet with a consolatory goal deep into the game as a result of the goalkeeper’s poor outing.
That was almost the last action to close the game with a 5-1 scoreline. Victoria United are leaders of Pool B.
Pool B games for second day of play will continue on Tuesday, September 13 and will See Aigle Royal of Nkongsamba take on Victoria United and Ajax of Maroua vs FC Ebolowa all on action.
