Rigobert Song Bahanag- the lead trainer of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is set to announce the country’s provisional squad for the home and away FIFA World Cup qualifiers matches against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
The 45-year old Cameroonian tactician is expected to name a squad dominated by the AFCON 2021 bronze medalist but with a number of new faces especially in midfield and in defense.

Song is presently in Europe to convince new talents for the squad but is expected to release the squad in the first-half of next week and Liverpool’s Joel Matip is expected to be in the squad after he agreed to end his exile from the national team.
We understand Joel could be in the squad for the first time in close to a decade while talks are ongoing with a number of new faces.
The Desert Foxes of Algeria who were at the 2018 FIFA World Cup are Cameroon’s last opponent in the race to reach Qatar in November this year.
Both sides will clash on March 25 at Japoma-Douala and cap the qualifier at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida-Algeria three days later.
The desert Foxes of Algeria who exited the recent AFCON at the group stages are seeking a fifth qualification to the FIFA World Cup while an aggregate win in the tie for Cameroon will take them through to their eighth FIFA World Cup tournament.
The importance of this fixture to coach Djamel Belmadi of Algeria and recently-appointed Rigobert Song of Cameroon can’t be overemphasized.
The Cameroon squad is eagerly awaited just like the games later this month.
