Nigeria Under 20 ladies defeated its Cameroon counterparts 3-0 to book a place in the final qualifying round of Costa Rica 2022 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup at the refurbished MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
After playing out a goalless draw in the first leg, Nigerian coach, Christopher Danjuma started the game with Monle Oyono in goal alongside Alani Bukola, Rofiat Imuran, Oluwatosin Demehin, Omowunmi Oshobukola, Bashirat Amoo, Precious Vincent, Mercy Idoko, Esther Onyenezide, Deborah Abiodun, and Flourish Sebastian.
Falconets pushed for an early goal through Flourish Sabastine and Mercy Idoko but the visitors remained rock-solid in the early part of the game.
FC Robo Queens’ Esther Onyenezide broke the deadlock thanks to Precious Vincent’s assist in the 20th minute.
Precious Vincent doubled the lead for the Falconets with her 35th-minute strike.
Falconets in the second half hold on to the driving seat firmly despite some attacking threats from the visitors.
Esther Onyenezide at the double as the Falconets bag her third of the match in the 72nd minute.
Blessing Okpe and Taiwo Lawal replaced Precious Vincent and Flourish Sabastine for the Falconets.
Substitute Taiwo Lawal missed a seater in what could have made it four for the Falconets in the 80th minute, while goalkeeper Monley Oyono stretches wide to deny Camila Daha.
Mercy Kalu replaced Mercy Idoko for the Falconets’ third and final substitution of the match in the 84th minute.
Falconets will face the winner of the clash between Senegal and Morocco in the final round of the Qualifiers.
