Under-17 Lions of Cameroon midfielder Noh Nafeng Yvan has expressed optimism about Cameroon’s chances in what he qualified a competitive Under-17 AFCON group C.
The Cameroon national football Academy prodigy made the revelation on Wednesday after the defending champions and two times winners Cameroon were paired against double winners Mali, Senegal and South Africa in this year’s Under-17 AFCON tournament.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the 16-year old described described their opponents as good football nations.
“I am very satisfied because we know what we have to do by knowing our opponents. Looking at our group, it is very competitive against great football nations. The technical staff will bring out the strategy to approach these games so we remained focused and keep working to represent Cameroon in style,” Noh Nafeng stated.
The Under-17 Lions are currently observing a two-days break from camp activities with hopes of returning fresher for the continuation of the fourth training camp on Friday.
Cameroon on their eight appearance in the competition face winners in 2015 and 2017, Mali, 2015 finalist South Africa and Senegal in group C of the competition which begins on match 13th and run till March 31st, 2021 across three cities in Morocco.
Anicet Mbarga Foe’s Cameroon team has been in fine form during preparations, scoring 22 goals and conceding just twice in seven games.
Cameroon open their tournament on March 13th against Senegal before confronting South Africa three days later and climax group stage activities against Mali on March 21.
Noh Nafeng Yvan and others are expected to make the most of the chance to represent millions of young Cameroonians if including in the final squad for the tournament.
