March 5, 2021, the Under-17 Lions of Cameroon had a single training session at the historic Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé-Cameroon barely 24 hours after coming from a two-nil deficit to defeat APEJES of Mfou in a Pre-AFCON 2021 friendly.
Lead trainer Anicet Mbarga Foe splitted his team into two groups going by minutes played on Wednesday but ensured each group had sufficient time to work on different aspects of the game though paying special attention to endurance.
Thursday’s training at Mfadena lasted 90 minutes as the coach fine-tunes strategies to ready his team for the tournament.
Cameroon is expected to leave the country for Casablanca-Morocco on Sunday March 7th ahead of their 8th participation in the Under-17 AFCON tournament.
Cameroon qualified for the competition on paper following UNIFFAC’S inability to organize a regional competition to determine the two teams to represent the region.
The defending champions of the AFCON are in group C which is composed of Senegal with whom they open their campaign on March 15, 2015 finalist South Africa they confront second and two-times winners Mali with whom the Central Africans climax their group stage assignment.
Anicet Mbarga Foe’s boys are all new to the competition and likely to be the youngest team in the competition.
