The Confederation of African football, CAF, has informed the national associations of UNIFFAC that it’s champions and deputy champions of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers tournament, Cameroon and Congo Republic will represent the region in next month’s AFCON in Morocco.
In a letter addressed to the member associations, CAF stated that the decision is motivated by a number of reasons restricting the holding of the qualifiers tournament amongst which is the lack of a host nation and the COVID-19 prevention measures.
Therefore the Cameroon team of Ekoi Manfred, Fabrice Ndzie and Steve Mvoue who won the 2018 UNIFFAC tournament in Guinea and the Congolese team have earned qualification for the current generation of players guided by coach Andre Anicet Mbarga Foe.
AFCON holders Cameroon will be in Wednesday’s draw alongside the 11 other participants for the upcoming African cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Cameroon and Congo are the only nations entering the competition without zonal qualifiers. This mandates both nations to multiply efforts to give UNIFFAC a memorable representation during the March 13 to 31st tournament in Morocco.
The Cameroon team is currently in camp in Yaounde Cameroon.
