The Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Week Committee has announced December 6th as the kickoff date for the 2021 edition of the Ogun SWAN Week.
The annual event returns with a bang as sports writers across Ogun state are expected to converge on the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta to celebrate their week.
Ogun SWAN Week Committee headed by the Secretary of the association, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji confirmed the date after the monthly congress for November 2021.
The event will kick off on Monday, December 6th with a health walk from Ibara under the bridge to MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
According to the SWAN Secretary, the event will be chaired by the Chairman, Federal House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Olumide Osoba will have the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo speaking on the theme of the week: “Quality legislation towards a sustainable sports policy in Nigeria” on Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwe-Irohin House, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
There will be a novelty match between Ogun SWAN members and members of the Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday, 9th December 2021 at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta by 4 pm.
The week will be rounded off with an Award/Gala Nite at the conference room of Continental Suites Hotel, Ibara, Abeokuta by 7 pm.
