2021 NWFL Premiership Week Three Wrap: Bayelsa Queens maintain perfect start

With 14 goals after week three, the 2021 NWFL Premiership season maintains not less than a 2.0 goal ratio per week after the first two weeks produced 19 and 21 goals respectively.

Delta Queens’ Odubanjo Dominance

0- Delta Queens’ Odubanjo Dominance failed to score for the first time this season after her goals against Dreamstar FC Ladies (two-goal) and Rivers Angels (one goal). She is joint leading goal scorer in the league alongside two other players.

0- Week three didn’t record any away win.

 

FC Robo Queens

1- FC Robo Queens suffered their first defeat of the season after Charity Reuben’s 53rd-minute strike truncated the Lagos Landlady’s perfect start to the season. They won their first two games against Nasarawa Amazons and Osun Babes.

Confluence Queens starting line up vs Sunshine Queens

1- Confluence Queens 1-0 victory over Nasarawa Amazons was the Club’s first win of the season after their defeat to Sunshine Queens and a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels.

Ibom Angels players

1- Ibom Angels also picked their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 win over Royal Queens. The Orange Ladies were beaten by Osun Babes 0-1 in their first game before playing out a 1-1 draw with Pelican Stars.

1- The fixture between Edo Queens and Rivers Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium was the only drawn game of week three. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Edo Queens Starting line up vs DreamStar FC Ladies

1- Edo Queens dropped points for the first time this season after their 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels. The result ensured that they dropped to second on the league table. The Obaseki Ladies won their first two games against Royal Queens and Dreamstar FC Ladies

 

2- Edo Queens and Rivers Angels’ clash was the second game to be played under floodlight in the 2021 NWFL Premiership season after the opening fixture between Edo Queens and Royal Queens.

Delta Queens

2- Delta Queens’ 1-0 win against Sunshine Queens was their second win of the season after their 6-2 defeat to Rivers Angels last week. They won their first game 4-1 vs Dreamstar FC Ladies.

2- Abia Angels’ victory over Dreamstar FC Ladies was their second win of the campaign after a 1-0 setback against Royal Queens. They opened their campaign with a 2-0 triumph over Pelican Stars.

Osun Babes players

2- Osun Babes’ 3-0 win against Pelican Stars was also the Club’s second win of the season after a 3-1 loss to FC Robo Queens last week. They had a 0-1 away win in their first game at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

 

2- Two games ended with 2-1 scoreline.

Ibom Angels 2-1 Royal Queens

2- Osun Babes’ Yemisi Samuel was the only player to score two goals in week three. She bagged a brace against Pelican Stars.

 

3- Three games ended with 1-0 scorelines.
Delta Queens 1-0 Sunshine Queens,
Confluence Queens 1-0 Nasarawa Amazons,
Bayelsa Queens 1-0 FC Robo Queens

 

3- Three games produced three goals each.
Abia Angels 2-1 Dreamstar FC Ladies,
Osun Babes 3-0 Pelican Stars,
Ibom Angels 2-1 Royal Queens

 

3- Yemisi Samuel’s brace vs Pelican Stars took her goal tally to three this season after she scored the winning goal for her side in their 0-1 win against Ibom Angels. She is the joint leading goal scorer in the league alongside FC Robo’s Monday Gift and Delta Queens’ Odubanjo Dominance.

3- Bayelsa Queens maintained their perfect start to the season after their 1-0 win vs FC Robo Queens. They won their first two games against Sunshine Queens and Nasarawa Amazons to top the league table after three games.

Dreamstar FC Ladies’starting line up vs Edo Queens

3- Dreamstar FC Ladies’ 2-1 loss to Abia Angels was their third defeat in a row. The Galacticas are yet to pick a point in the league after three games. They were defeated by Delta Queens and Edo Queens in their first two games.

 

3- Nasarawa Amazons 1-0 loss to Confluence Queens was also their third straight defeats. FC Robo Queens and Bayelsa Queens defeated them in their first two games.

 

3- Osun Babes was the only Club to score three goals in week three after their 3-0 win against Pelican Stars.

 

3- Three clubs suffered their second defeats of the season. Sunshine Queens, Pelican Stars, and Royal Queens.

 

4- Four goalkeepers kept clean sheets. Onuegbu Ihuoma (Delta Queens), Monle Omini (Bayelsa Queens), Obia Christiana (Osun Babes), and Vincent Mercy (Confluence Queens) all kept clean sheets without conceding a goal.

 

6- Week three produced six home wins. Delta Queens, Confluence Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Abia Angels, Osun Babes, and Ibom Angels all won their home games.

11- Eleven players scored their first goal of the season in week three.
Vivian Ikechukwu (Rivers Angels), Elizabeth Zirike (Edo Queens), Winifred Eyebhoria (Confluence Queens), Charity Reuben (Bayelsa Queens), Maxi Bisong (Abia Angels), Ayatsea Hembafen (Dreamstar FC Ladies), Nmesoma Ibeh (Abia Angels), Kafayat Bashiru (Osun Babes), Mercy Itimi (Ibom Angels), Chika Idika (Royal Queens), and Blessing Nkor (Ibom Angels) all opened their goal account for the season.

 

14- Week three produced a total number of 14 goals from seven games.

The 2021 NWFL Premiership season will continue with week four fixtures slated for Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
