Week eight of the 2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership witnessed seven home wins from all seven centres with Pelican Stars as the only away team to score a goal.
www.thenwfl.com picked out players that performed credibly well for their clubs in week eight games.
Ibubeleye Whyte (Rivers Angels, goalkeeper)
Whyte was behind the sticks as defending Champions, Rivers Angels continue to mount pressure on league leaders, Bayelsa Queens with a resounding 3-0 win over Royal Queens FC. The goalie kept her third clean sheet in eight games after her side’s last week’s victory. Her experience is helping Rivers Angels push for the league title.
Happiness Tutus (Confluence Queens)
The Confluence Queens defender put up a superb defensive display as the New Direction Ladies defeated Abia Angels 1-0 to record their third win of the campaign.
Folorunso Comfort (Delta Queens)
Comfort is comfortably helping Delta Queens’ defence line alongside Mamuzo Edafe to earn a four-game unbeaten run in the league with victories over Bayelsa Queens, FC Robo Queens, and recently Edo Queens in week eight.
Amarachi Okoronkwo (Nasarawa Amazons)
Amarachi scored her second goal of the season for Nasarawa Amazons as they dispatched Osun Babes 2-0 in Lafia.

Tosin Demehin (Sunshine Queens, defender)
Tosin Demehin opened her goal account for the Betty Babes last Wednesday from her defensive position as Sunshine Queens pummelled Pelican Stars 4-1. The hardworking defender has been solid for Sunshine Queens this season.
Chidinma Ogbuchi (FC Robo Queens)
Chidinma Ogbuchi was pivotal in ensuring that FC Robo Queens return to winning ways after their previous defeat amidst an armed robbery scare. She helped her side to a comfortable 5-0 win over DreamStar FC Ladies.

Confluence Queens
Joy Omewa (Confluence Queens)
The top goal scorer from the 2020 Flying Officers Cup, Joy Omewa’s goal (her first for the season) was crucial in securing a 1-0 win over Abia Angels.

Bayelsa Queens
Zainab Olapade (Bayelsa Queens)
Zainab’s role for Bayelsa Queens in their 4-0 win over Ibom Angels was a key one. She didn’t score but posed a remarkable threat to their opponent’s defence leading to goals from Anjor Mary, Bokiri Joy, and Charity Reuben.

Anjor Mary (Bayelsa Queens)
The former Osun Babes forward scored two goals to propel Restoration Girls to a 4-0 win over Ibom Angels. The two goals took her tally to four in eight games.
Suliat Abideen (Sunshine Queens)
Suliat like Anjor Mary also scored two goals for Sunshine Queens in the course of their 4-1 win against Pelican Stars. The two goals were her first for the season as her side returned to winning ways after their 1-0 loss to Osun Babes in their previous game.

Gift Monday (FC Robo Queens)
Gift returned to the league after featuring for the Super Falcons at the Turkish Women’s Cup and continued her goal-scoring form with a goal for FC Robo Queens who ran riot with a 5-0 win over DreamStar FC Ladies. She is joint leading goal scorer with five goals in eight games alongside Charity Reuben.

Manager: Emmanuel Osahon
The grassroots coach noted for spotting talents like Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade guided FC Robo Queens to the biggest win of week eight. A resounding 5-0 win over Lagos rivals, DreamStar FC Ladies didn’t project the game as a top derby clash as FC Robo Queens showed their neighbours no-mercy and recovered from the previous week’s defeat to Delta Queens.
