The 2021 edition of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Nationwide League has been scheduled to kick off on April 11, 2021, at the Aguiyi Ironsi Sports Complex, Abuja, and the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
According to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, a total of 22 clubs from across Nigeria will be participating in the third tier league of the NWFL which will be concluded on April 17, 2021.
Shabi noted that 10 clubs will battle for one of the two slots for promotion to the second tier NWFL Championship at the Aguiyi Ironsi Sports Complex, Abuja.
The clubs are Invincible Angels of Benue, Abruka Queens of Kwara State, Solo Wonders Babes of Abia State, Beautiful Tours Angels of Abuja, and Osklean FC of Rivers State.
Others are Crystal Stars of Bayelsa, Fortress Queens of Edo State, FC Amazon of Niger State, Umeseaka Queens of Abia, and Honey Badgers of Benue State.
The Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, will host 12 teams that will battle for the second promotion ticket.
They include Moje Queens of Kwara, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens of Lagos, Unification Queens of Lagos, Oasis FC of Lagos, and Omidiran Babes of Osun State.
Others are Lakeside Queens of Lagos, Royaltoms Queens of Lagos, Aseyori Queens of Lagos, Dannaz FC of Lagos, Ekiti Queens of Ekiti, FC Phoenix of Lagos, and Papa Soccer Angels of Lagos.
The NWFL COO stated that the arrival date for clubs in the two centres is April 11, while competition proper starts April 12, with a knockout format, before going to the league proper to determine the winner of the centre.
She added that the clubs are expected to submit their duly filled registration forms on April 2, 2021.
