Organizers of the maiden edition of the Guinesss Super League Awards are intensifying preparations of the venue of the maiden edition of the historic event penciled for this Wednesday evening.
Footages of the beautifully-designed venue for the celebration of the just-ended season are currently trending on social media platforms as preparations climax 24 hours to the event.
The Awards which have nominees for the Club of the season, player of the season, revelation player of the season, best goalkeeper, Referee amongst others is expected to kick-off at 6pm on Wednesday with the likes of Cameroon Football legends Albert Roger Milla and Rigobert Song Bahanack as main guest.
Guest artists Mimie and Vanister are expected to join 2015 Women’s Gaelle African Footballer of the year winner Gaelle Enganamouit as some of the top attraction of the event.
In all, the organizers expect football legends, skippers of all Guinesss Super League outfits, trainers, former Football greats, Sponsors, potentials sponsors, the Media plus the jury amongst others.
There are multiple categories of awards to be handed out in what promises to be an amazing night.
Vision Sport FC Bamenda, others compensated for admirable season
North West regional representatives, Vision Sports FC of Bamenda are shortlisted for the Fair Play Award.
The team which ended the season ranked 6th on the official classification table of the championship, will be competing with Éclair of Sa’a from the Centre region and Littoral regional side, Caiman Filles of Douala.
Placed under the category Super Club Fair Play, the three outfits will be compensated for their fair play attitudes displayed on the green turf during games as well as the good conduct of their officials including coaches and club presidents.
Deadly tactical trio lined-up for Best Coach Award
Three coaches have been nominated for the Best Coach Award placed under the domain named Super Coach category.
Prominent among the list is AWA S.A lead trainer Hassan Balle.
The title winning tactician will be up against two other vibrant coaches.
Amazon FAP’s Mike Ndoumou whose incredible show with the team earned her an appointment as the lead trainer of the women’s Under 20 team of Cameroon, is also standing on the way.
Louves Minproff’s Oudou Kpoumi also make-up the list. The trainer helped Louves end the season placed second and also competed at the Women’s CAF Champions League is also considered a top gun for the award.
Bawou, Marthe, Co battle in Best Keeper category
Four keepers are lined up for the best goalkeeper award in potentially one of the most-tricky categories.
The group ranked under the category named Super Gardienne has stars like Cameroon Indomitable Lionesses keeper Ange Bawou of Louves Minproff as well as FC Ebolowa’s giant and physically advantaged keeper Pauline Ayangma.
Éclair of Sa’a shot stopper Michaely Bihina and Marthe Omgmahan of champions AWA S.A are also on the list.
All four goalkeepers had incredible seasons with their respective clubs with Ange Bawou recording over 8 clean sheets for Louves.
Pauline Ayangma was partly credited for FC Ebolowa’s fair run last term, partnering with the likes of ace Lionesses defender Augustine Ejangue to help the club finish the season ranked among the top 5th.
Same stories holds for Bihina and Marthe Omgmahan.
Outstanding youngsters recognized
This season saw a series of players making their entry into the limelight of women’s domestic football in Cameroon. Feats which led to four of the most outstanding youngsters lined up in the Super Revelation category.
Éclair Filles’ Happi Danielle, Naomi Leslie Eto’o, Enganambeng Felicia and Confidence Bongbeng Buh of Renaissance Women of Guider make-up the list.
Attacking midfielder Naomi Leslie Ndjoah Eto’o came to prominence shortly after the start of the 2020/2021 season after netting four goals in as many games in the early stages of the season.
FC Ebolowa’s forward Enganambeng Anne Felicia displayed similar exploits for the South regional side this term, serving as pure headache for defenders while Confidence Bongben Buh was one of the biggest source of hope and pride for Renaissance Women despite the club’s turbulent times in the league during the campaign.
Close to a dozen lined-up for Player of the Season Award
Ten players are nominated in the near star studded Best Player Award category.
Cameroon Indomitable Lionesses forward and defensive midfielder Brenda Tabe and Tantoh Ngifor Melvis are part of AWA FC’s four players in the race for the prestigious award.
The two were vital to AWA’s success of emerging champions of the Guinness Super League this term with Brenda Tabe slotting in over 14 goals during the campaign while ace defender Tantoh Melvis handled the defensive and midfield compartments with near relative ease.
The list also includes Abega Bengono Berthe Reinette, and Moumazim Brigitte both of AWA, Fatima Kome and Ngock Monique and top scorer Eliane Aimee Bibout all from Éclair as well as Louves Minproff’s Ngo Mback Batoum,Lamine Mana and Ebenye Ebongue from Amazone FAP.
Massive talents shortlisted for Team of the Season
Player selected for the Team of the Season category includes keeper Mikely Bihina from Ecair. Bihina had an exceptional season, entering the score sheet in a few occasions having scored a brace against Vision Sports in a day seven fixture after being featured as a striker.
Other stars on the list includes goal scoring princesses; Brenda Tabe, Flora Kameni and Elianne Bibout who jointly netted closed to 50 goals in the league this season.
Bibout unopposed for Golden Boot Award
Eliane Bibout who spanked in 18 goals for Éclair Filles of Sa’a this term is the lone nominee for the Top Scorer Award category after outscoring last season’s star Brenda Tabe as well as a goal tasty Flora Kameni to ended the season as lead scorer.
Referees to be compensated
Six referees placed under two categories are also nominated.
Bahane Nawana, Mbakop Fongang and Sol Ingrid Therese have been nominated for the Best Assistant Referee Award while Kenne Kouesso Nadine, Diangha Rarie and Guimbang A Etong Eline are all in for the Best Referee Award Category.
The voting for the various categories has done by club officials and technicians including head coaches, club presidents plus the media and verified by the professionals to ensure a perfect result.
The 6pm event will be live on CRTV Sports to enhance accessibility for all.
