Under-17 Lions of Cameroon forward Wassou Goue Patient was the star of this Wednesday afternoon as Cotonsport of Garoua U18s picked up an impressive 3-1 victory against local side Union Sportive of Douala.
The slow burner encounter failed to produce the expected spark for most the first segment of the game.
It was only in last five minutes of the first segment that Cotonsport won a penalty following a wrongly timed challenge from Under-17 Lions goalkeeper Manfo Kana in his box.
The resulting penalty was taken by Wassou Goue who wrong-footed his international colleague to give Cotonsport the lead.
That lead was protected till the break. At half-time it was 1-0 in favor of Cotonsport.
Barely five minutes into the second segment, Union Sportive of Douala leveled scores through Tchokounte.
Wassou Goue restored the lead 10 minutes later but wasn’t done with the days business.
Seven minutes later, Wassou Goue scored again to complete his hat-trick and take his tournament tally to four goals in two games.
The forward was replaced five minutes after his third goal to the appreciation of many at the Brasserie Football Academy Center in Ndokoti.
Born in 2004, the son of Goue Goue Wassou formed an important part of the Cameroon U-17 Lions Team Coach Anicet Mbarga Foe put together for the canceled AFCON.
Wassou Goue scored thrice in friendly six games for Cameroon in the build-up to the 2021 Under-17 AFCON and has carried the form into the ongoing tournament.
16-year old Wassou blessed with pace and an excellent dribbling ability plus excellent finishing is showing signs of greatness.
