LIFCA have been eliminated from the 2021 cup of Cameroon competition.
The Limbe-based outfit were knocked out by familiar foes CINYODEV FA for the second year running at the historic Tiko Town Green Stadium.
CINYODEV FA scored a goal in either half to pick up a massive 2-1 win against favorites LIFCA this Thursday.
CINYODEV FA had a perfect start to the game as barely five minutes into the encounter goalkeeper Thibout Ngande of LIFCA of Limbe gave away a penalty and picked a booking.
The resulting penalty was taken by midfielder Emerant Motutu Junior. His first attempt came off the post but the referee ordered for the penalty to be retaken because Thibout Ngande was adjudged to have came off his lines before the penalty was taken.
Emerant sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with the second attempt, giving Cinyodev FA a one-nil lead six minutes into the game.
LIFCA improved after conceding but their passes in the final third led th down on a pair of occasions in the following seven minutes.
LIFCA’s Christian Donald Tchawa’s timid header towards goal in the 15th minute was comfortably gathered by goalkeeper Michael Mosoke Molua.
LIFCA won a set piece with the next offensive move. Brice Tabi Ashu’s 40 yards drive connected with Donald Tchawa but the forward’s ball control was poor thus giving away possession to Cinyodev who cleared their lines.
CINYODEV’s Boris Besonge Musango Leke was a constant menace to the left side of LIFCA’s backline as he opened the defense on a couple of occasions but lacking in decision making.
Goalkeeper Michael Mofoke of CINYODEV FA made two timely interventions to prevent LIFCA from scoring in the 28th and 29th minute, first denying Rene Mukete the chance to head in a cross from Kwedi Elombo before clearing a great cross from Rene Mukete.
A 34th minute set piece from Emerant Motutu Junior way outside the box forced a save off goal Thibout Ngande.
Both sides failed to create a real chance in the final 10 minutes leaving the half time score 1-0 in favour of CINYODEV FA.
LIFCA returned for the second segment as a much improved side especially after coach Augustin Tchoupo made two substitutions in the attacking third of his u team.
Akoti Rene Mukete won a 62nd minute set piece but the opportunity was wasted by Brice Tabi Ashu.
LIFCA’s Franck Kindzeka made a fine run in the left wing and connected with Christian Donald Tchawa but the latter’s header went wide.
A long range dead ball effort in the 65th minutes from Kwedi Elombo was gathered by goalkeeper Michael Mosoke Molua of CINYODEV FA.
LIFCA came close again barely a minute later but yet again goalkeeper Michael Mosoke Molua was perfectly-placed to gather the rebound. He followed that up with another great save.
LIFCA were on the front foot in the next ten minutes creating inroads in the CINYODEV backline but the final ball was their undoing.
Beboang Ne Kalba leveled scores for LIFCA in the 79 minute setting the stage for an interesting finale.
Graham Bong Ajebe Metuk had a guilt-edge opportunity five minutes from time but his touch in the box was only good enough to send the ball wide.
Two minutes later forward Graham Bong Ajebe lobbed the keeper from out of the box making it 2-1 for Cinyodev FA.
The game remained on the same score till full-time though LIFCA’s Brice Tabi Ashu tested goalkeeper Michael Mosoke Molua from a long range set piece situation.
The result means CINYODEV FA advance to round three of the regional qualifiers.
