With all still left to fight for between Malawi and Uganda today in their final game of the AFCON qualifiers, and with both team standing a chance of qualification, as a morale boaster, Capital Oil Refining Industries Limited (CORI) has promised an amount of 5 million Malawian Kwacha (About US$6500) to the Malawi national team if they beat Uganda to secure qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Currently placed third in group B with 7 points, one behind tonight’s opponent, only an outright win would help Malawi book a place in Cameroon as Burkina Faso already took one of the slots in the group.
The first time both teams met in the qualifiers was, it ended 2-0 in favor of the Ugandan and anything short of defeat tonight definitely will see Uganda through but with the prize tag attached, it’ll definitely be a good match to look out for.
Playing at home should also be an added advantage for the Flames of Malawi as they are popularly called but when it comes to football, it’s all about those who wants it most and a bit of luck.
In the other match of the group, Burkina F Faso who already qualified will take on South Sudan who certainly have finished bottom of the group and a win for the Burkina Faso will help them cement the top place.
Malawi v Uganda – 6pm
Burkina Faso v South Sudan – 6pm
