After nine games without defeat in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, Edo Queens finally succumbed to a 2-0 loss as Nasarawa Amazons earned a victory over the Benin based side.
Chimeberem Opara scored her second goal of the season to give Nasarawa Amazons the lead in the sixth minute.
Dooshima Tarnum doubled the lead for Nasarawa Amazons in the 51st minute.
The win not only ended Edo Queens nine-match unbeaten run but also ended the team’s six-game winning streak.
Elsewhere, Favour Nkwocha’s second goal of the season was enough to hand Confluence Queens a 1-0 win over Adamawa Queens.
Goals from Marcus Grace and Alvine Dahz helped Osun Babes to a 0-2 away win against Adamawa Queens.
Etim Edidiong scored for the fourth straight game as her goal propelled Bayelsa Queens to a 0-1 away win over Royal Queens.
Abia Angels and Rivers Angels settled for a 0-0 draw while FC Robo Queens clash with Sunshine Queens was postponed till Friday due to the demise of Sunshine Queens goalkeeper, Elizabeth Johnson.
