Remo Stars pipped Abia Warriors 1-0 in its matchday seven tie at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, to return to the top of the league table.
The host had the first chance of the game in the 20th minute from a corner kick, Seun Ogunribide took the kick and Andy Okpe nods but Yeo Chacool clears to prevent the opening goal.
After a goalless first half, Remo Stars find the breakthrough in the 62nd minute.
Dayo Ojo put Remo Stars ahead with a sublime finish after connecting to Seun Ogunribide’s cross.
The visitors in the 72nd minute had a chance to level things up but Kayode Bankole in goal for Reno Stars denied Paul Sampson.
In the 92nd minute, Sunday Williams drags the ball inside the visitors’ final third, he squares towards Akanni Qudus but he couldn’t put the ball into an empty net.
Remo Stars without a defeat after seven games occupy the first position on the league table with 17 points ahead of Rivers United (15 points).
Rivers United on Wednesday defeated MFM FC 3-1 in Lagos.
Kwara United also edged Kano Pillars 1-0 in Ilorin with Kabiru Balogun scoring the winning goal.
