Title holders, Akwa United of Cameroon’s Jean Efala Komguep edged neighbours, Dakkada FC 3-2 in the matchday 14 game of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday.
Femi Ajayi gave Dakkada the lead in the 17th minute but the lead only lasted for 12 minutes after which Samuel Amadi equalised for Akwa United.
Two goals in the second half from Wisdom Fernandon and Ezekiel Bassey in the 54th and 74th minute respectively gave Akwa United a 3-1 lead before Ezekiel Edidiong reduced the deficit for Dakkada FC in the 80th minute.
Rivers United returned to the top of the table after a 1-0 win against Enugu Rangers.
Nyima Nwangwa’s 62nd-minute goal returned Rivers United to the league summit ahead of Plateau United’s visit to Gombe United.
Sunshine Stars pipped Kwara United thanks to an early goal from Hammed Abdul Taofeek while Shooting Stars and Wikki Tourist settled for a goalless draw.
