Equatorial Guinea has emerged Champions in the just ended 2020 Women’s UNIFFAC tournament after defeating a resilient DRC side on penalties.
In the game filled with tactical discipline, the two teams in question could not penetrate each others defence as the chances were seemingly few and far between throughout the 90 minutes of regular playing time.
The finals being a tight affair, the lottery of penalties was needed to separate the both sides; Equatorial Guinea made use of their home advantage to convert four penalties from the spot as opposed to D.R Congo’s two.
Equatorial Guinea after the finals, therefore, went on to clinch the 2020 women’s UNIFFAC tournament after defeating Gabon, Central African Republic, Chad and D.R Congo on penalties while D.R Congo crumbled to hosts Equatorial Guinea after having gone through The Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon and Guinea Conakry.
Equatorial Guinea has always been a powerhouse on the continent as per female football, and this recent UNIFFAC success would only help revamp the Nzalang Nacional as they are popularly referred to.
