Nigeria will have representative in both male and female final of 2020 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Top 16 Cup. This is due to the qualification of the duo of Aruna Quadri and Edem Offiong for the final after their semi final victories.
Aruna Quadri pulled the chestnut out of the fire by reducing a 2 games deficit to claim a 4-3 (5-11,6-11,11-4,14-12,7-11,11-5,12-10) win over his Egyptian rival, Omar Asar, thereby moving into the final. The the other men’s semi final between Ahmed Saleh and Ibrahima Diaw ended in favour of the Egyptian.
Saleh claimed a 4-1(14-12,11-7,3-11,11-9,11-7) win and will meet Quadri in the men’s singles final tomorrow.
In the women category, Nigeria’s Edem Offiong secured a date with another Egyptian, Dina Meshref in the final, with a 4-2 (6-11,14-16,11-811-7,11-7,11-6) victory over Helmy Yousra in the semi finals.
The semi final results meant that both men and women finals will be played between Nigeria and Egypt.
