Nigeria Under 17 Women football National team, Flamingos qualified for the final stage of India 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 5-1 victory over Guinea in the second leg of African Qualifiers.
Imuran Rofiat scored the first goal for Nigeria in the 27th minute after receiving a brilliant pass from Chinyere Kalu. Taiwo Lawal doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 33rd minute off Bunmi Oladeji’s assist.
Taiwo Lawal bagged her brace 5 minutes from the end of the first half.
Nigeria was reduced to ten (10) girls in the 45th minute when Olamide Bolaji challenged Guinean player before receiving her matching order.
Guinea scored a consolation goal in the 84th minute from penalty spot when Diallo Fatoumata converted her penalty kick after Chidinma Ogbuchi had handled the ball in the box 18.
Immediately after passing the ball in the 87th minute, Nigerian substitute Alvine Dah-Zossu went round Guinea goalkeeper to help the Flamingos recover a three-goal advantage. Chinyere Kalu scored a superb free kick in the 90th minute to ensured a 5-1 victory for Flamingos as well as a comprehensive 11-2 triumph for the Nigerian side on aggregate.
Nigeria will next play the winner between Ghana and Liberia in the final round of qualification for the world cup.
Nigeria 5-1 Guinea (11-2 aggregate).
