As Nigeria Women’s Under 17 side prepare to play Guinea in their India 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers return leg clash, the team Assistant Coach, Bankole Olowookere has told reporters that spectators at the stadium and Nigerians should expect quality football from his side.
“Expect quality football from the girls. We want to see how we can score more goals. When I was appointed, till when the girls started coming into the camp, I have told them the objectives and vision of the team. They know we are the only on International duty. Though the country is faced with various economical, political and health challenges, we want to play well and score many goals. It means alot to see spectators celebrate our goals with happiness.”
As far as tactics for Saturday’s game is concerned, Coach Olowookere disclosed that he won’t be palatable to disclose his tactics but he is optimistic that the girls will pick the World Cup ticket.
“I won’t want to disclose our tactics, but we intend to achieve a victory with many goals. The moment we score one or two goals, more goals will come as it was in the first leg and we hope to replicate that in order to qualify for the world cup and avoid what happened last time when the team failed to qualify for the tournament in 2018.” Coach Olowookere concluded.
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Dream Stars Ladies gaffer, Olowookere is optimistic that the team will pick the World Cup ticket. He said that there is still more work to be done in order to avoid missing out of the tournament like the last edition in 2018.
Nigeria will host Guinea with a 6-1 first leg lead on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos by 4:00p.m Nigerian time.
