Tanzania on Saturday emerged as winners of the COSAFA U-17 Women’s trophy after a 3-4 victory on penalties over Zambia, www.kick442.com reports.
It took Zambians a couple of minutes to settle in the game, but when they did, Taonga Chule did a fine job of winning the ball and sliding it to Comfort Selemani who charged past her marker before sinking a fine low shot home in the 19th minute to give Zambia the lead.
Kipenga equalised for Tanzania with a 94th-minute penalty to take the game into the lottery of spot-kicks.
Guests, Tanzania were able to edge Zambia 3-4 on penalties to win the COSAFA U-17 Women’s title in the CECAFA region after Uganda won the inaugural edition in 2019.
Zambia won most of the Championship awards.
Tisilile Lungu wins the player of the tournament award, Esther Siamfuko wins player of their match, the goalkeeper of the tournament goes to Zambia goalkeeper, Chitete Munsaka, and Zambia also wins the Fairplay Award.
