2020/21 NWFL Premiership Match Day One Wrap

The 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership kicked off to a goal feast across various centres after Match Day One results on Wednesday, www.kick442.com reports.

 

Nasarawa Amazons vs FC Robo Queens

Nasarawa Amazons 0-1 FC Robo Queens
The official opening game of the season saw Lagos based FC Robo Queens snatching a 0-1 away win over Nasarawa Amazons at the Lafia City Stadium. Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajia Silifat Sule took the official kick-off. Shobowale Rukayat scored the winning goal for FC Robo Queens in the 32nd minute to ensure that the visitors return to Lagos with the full three points.

Ibom Angels 0-1 Osun Babes
The second away win of Match Day One saw the Omoluabi Queens smiling back to Osogbo with a 0-1 away win over Ibom Angels at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. Flamingos top striker, Yemisi Samuel scored the winning goal for Osun Babes in the second half.

Confluence Queens 1-1 Rivers Angels
The clash of the top two clubs in the 2018-2019 season ended in a 1-1 draw. Edet Glory scored the opening goal of the game for Confluence Queens in the seventh minute before Regina Otu equalised for Rivers Angels seven minutes later.

Abia Angels’ Jane Abraham

Abia Angels 2-0 Pelican Stars
Margaret Ademulegun’s free kick in the 15th minute gave Abia Angels the lead before Jane Abraham doubled their lead in the 47th minute to give the host a 2-0 win over the most successful Club in the league, Pelican Stars.

Delta Queens 4-1 DreamStar FC Ladies
Delta Queens were the biggest winners of Match Day One after their 4-1 win over DreamStar FC of Lagos. Odubanjo Dominance opened the flood gate of goals for Delta Queens in the ninth minute. Iyasere Gift doubled their lead two minutes later. Odubanjo Dominance scored her second goal of the game in the 36th minute to give the host a 3-1 half time lead.
Bankole Sofiat pulled one goal back for DreamStar FC Ladies before Agbonu Oghogho restored Delta Queens’ three-goal lead in the 77th minute.

Bayelsa Queens 2-1 Sunshine Queens
2017-2018 Champions, Bayelsa Queens secured a slim 2-1 home win over Sunshine Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenegoa. Joy Jerry scored the first goal of the game for Bayelsa Queens in the 27th minute. Precious Vincent scored the second goal for the host before Funkule Seun reduced the deficit for Sunshine Queens in the 41st minute.

Edo Queens 4-1 Royal Queens
The final game of the day which was played under the floodlight at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City saw Edo Queens matching the result of Delta Queens with a 4-1 win over newcomers, Royal Queens. It was a baptism of fire for Royal Queens in the South-South derby as two goals in the space of three minutes by Tessy Biahwo propelled Edo Queens to a 4-1 win. Taibat Odueke and Grace Henry also scored for Edo Queens while Rose Adeshina was Royal Queen’s goal scorer.
