The Cameroon football federation has decided that 15-times Cameroon champions, Cotonsport of Garoua will be one of Cameroon’s two representatives in the 2020-2021 CAF inter-club competitions.
The sixth of 21 resolutions of the just-ended general assembly have it that the runners-up (Cotonsport) of the Cameroon Elite One championship for the 2019-2020 season will enter the CAF Confederation Cup later this year.
The decision was unanimously adopted by the attendees of the General Assembly meeting which ended this Friday.
This puts an end to debates about the representation of the Central African nation which had been based on the fact that Stade Renard of Melong were the last winner of the Cup of Cameroon and should have had the spot usually reserved for the winners of the Cup despite the Corona Virus-induced blackout on the competition last season.
2003 finalist and 2014 semifinalist, Cotonsport of Garoua will return to the competition for the first time since narrowly-missing qualification to the group stage in 2018 after aggregate defeat in two legs of a clash against Kumasi Asante Kotoko of Ghana.
