The University of Bamenda in this 5th day of play set out for the knock out stages in many disciplines. At the end of the day, they returned with mixed feelings as they were butted in some and sailed through in others.
In Football boys, UBa revenged the 2017 scenario where Yaounde I defeated them in the semi final in Bamenda after penalty shots. Wednesday’s encounter was a hotly contested game that ended in a virgin tie. UBa and Yde 1 went into the penalty shots where goal keeper Chia Allen Awah of the University of Bamenda stopped two and one knocked the bar. Naked named “penalty killer” at the end of the match, Allen mentioned that his secret is simply concentration. This victory sent UBa to the semi final built for Thursday 9th against the host, University of Dschang. The football girls of UBa too added their smile as they picked a qualification ticket to the semi final. The beat the University of Yaounde 1 in post penalty shots.
The rest of the disciplines saw UBa bowed out of the competition. In JUDO, the host University defeated UBa after putting up relenless efforts.
In Basketball, UBa girls could not withstand the 85 point victory for the University of Douala where they managed just 28.
The Ngoundere University crushed UBa in volleyball by a total of 3 sets to zero.
After putting up a remarkable performance against the University of Douala girls in the group stage, the handball girls of UBa could not stop the University of Ngoundere in the quarter final game. Ngoundere girls smached UBa with a total of 34 goals against 23. In collective games, UBa’s hope now remains on the football boys and girls.
