Nigerian Golden Eaglet shook off a poor start in their first match against Hungary to win 4-2 at the 2019 under 17 world cup in Brazil.
The five-time champions were a goal down as early as the third minutes.
But the captain of the team, Samson Tijani equalises through a penalty some minutes later.
The Hungarian side restored their lead in the 27 minutes and the half remained that way.
The Eaglet continued to enjoy possession but the breakthrough didn’t come until in the 79th and 81st minutes where there were quick fire goals form Usman Ibrahim and Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi to put the Eaglets in the lead for the first time in the game.
The team didn’t stop as they kept mounting pressure until in 87 minutes where Samson Tijani got his second of the day to make it 4-2.
The win means Nigeria has broken the record of wining any U-17 World Cup group match against a European side after conceding 2 goals. Susceptible.
In 2009, the team drew Germany 3-3, played Sweden 3-3 in 2013 and lost 2-1 to Croatia in 2015.
