Tanzania Referee Jonesia Rukyaa Kabakama has handled this Sunday’s group B clash pitting Senegal to Cameroon in the ongoing 2019 U-17 AFCON tournament in Dar Es Salaam.

The decision to appoint her as referee makes her the first Woman to be tasked with managing a Men’s AFCON game at any category with the whistle.

Considered one of the best female referee in East Africa,Jonesia was also picked for the 2018 AWCON.

Named best referees in Tanzania in the 2017/2018 season after an emaculate season in which she handled the biggest men’s game in the Land (Simba SC v Young Africans)

With close to 3 years of experience as a FIFA referee the young lady from Kagera Haya tribe (Jonesia) will go down in History as the first Woman to be given such a huge responsibility after she previously served as a fourth official in Cameroon’s game against Guinea.

The game ended zero all and Cameroon finished as group winners in Pool B after picking up 7 points in 3 games while Guinea finished runners. Senegal and Morocco exit the competition in the group stage.
