Enyimba won their second consecutive game with an emphatic win against Ifeanyi Ubah, Pillars were forced to a 1-1 draw by Rangers while Akwa and Lobi also shares the spoils in the match day 4 of the 2019 NPFL playoffs.
Kano Pillars were coasting home with a 1-0 win until a controversial decision that led to a brawl gave Rangers a penalty to equalise and make it 1-1.
Rabiu Ali’s wonderful freekick had given Kano Pillars the lead in the 57 minutes and 73′ Enugu Rangers 0-1 Kano Pillars and a red card to Tope Olusesi after a poor two footed challenge on Nyima Nwagua to make game difficult for Rangers.
However, a Godwin Aguda penalty after Shola Brossa pushed Ifeanyin Egwim in the 89 minutes made it 1-1 at the end of the game.
Awka continued their unbeaten run however with another draw against Lobi Stars who needed a win to move close to getting a continental ticket.
In a match dominated by Lobi Stars, Solomon Kwambe, Skiru Alimi couldn’t make the league champions chances count as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Meanwhile in the last game of the NPFL playoffs, Enyimba brightened their chances of securing a top spot in the 2019 NPFL playoffs.
The people’s elephant were on rampage as they dispatched the side that has shown to be the wiping boys of the tournament, Ifeanyi Ubah 3-1 on Monday at the Agege Stadium.
A brace from Bala Reuben at the first half after Ifeanyi Ubah’s defender Promise had equalised to make it 1-1 saw the Aba warriors go into the tunnel with a 2-1 lead.
Bashir Abdulraman’s goal at the 56th minute gave the three points as the game ended that 3-1. The win takes Enyimba to top, a point ahead of Pillars.
