Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress are through to a back to back final of FIBA Afrobasket championship in Senegal. The defending champions defeats fellow West African, Mali 79-58.

D’Tigress won all four (4) quarters by scorelines of 25-12, 17-16, 17-12 and 20-18 respectively. Prior to this match, D’Tigress have only won twice in seven (7) matches against Mali. Nigerian team gave their all to ensure that they earned a third deserving victory over Mali. Two (2) Years ago, at the same semi final stage of the competition, Nigeria needed just a point to beat Mali in this encounter, but triumphed with 21 points in this year’s edition.

Nigeria’s top performer is Evelyn Akhator with +22 efficiency rating, 12 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 0 blocks in 27 minutes played.

Mali’s top performer is Meiya Tirera with +14 effeiciency rate, 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steals and 1 block.

Nigeria will play the winner of the second semi final clash between host Senegal and Mozambique in Sundays final game.
