The first game of the Cup of Cameroon 16th final game in the Limbe Middle Farms Stadium this Wednesday pitting local rivals Dynamo FC against Astres Douala ended 5-4 in favour of Dynamo.
Astres of Douala started on the front foot from the very start to finish. Coach Nankam Olivier put up a strong starting 11-though the team was without usual suspects, Christian Deugoue was on from the 1st minute and played 65 minutes in this the encounter.
The best chance in the first half for Astres came through the right channel; a beautiful cross from Eric Enjenwei was fumbled by teammate, Jean Rene who put it high into the sky, some 32 minutes in the game.
Dynamo FC with a reply of their own had a shout for a penalty that was turned down by the referee at the 43rd minute of the game when Cedar Ngankeu went down in the box-the referee saw nothing wrong with the tackle.
Coach Olivier Nankam brought in regular first team players like Abena Mesina and Guy Armand to try and break the deadlock but goal keeper Gabin Donald kept on pulling some clean stops to keep his side in it.
The clock ticked down and Astres still could not solve the Dynamo FC equation to open scoring-thus the lottery of penalties was introduced after 90 minutes.
Dynamo FC started the penalties. Some sublime shots were taken and we were headed for sudden death until Kamta Fovou’s effort from the spot was parried by goal keeper Gabin Donald and it was enough to give Dynamo the 5-4 win over Astres.
