Stade Renard of Melong

 

Stade Renard and New Stars of Douala have entertained the public in Limbe this Wednesday at the Centenary Stadium in Limbe.

First Half:

Stade Renard first came close in the 5th minute after a slow start for both sides.
A strike from a Bienvenu Mbith was parried away by Goalkeeper Patrick Kibyen on goal for New Stars.

7 minutes later Renard will come close again through a fine combination between Mbith and Tamo Giresse which wasn’t met by Kouayep, who was an inch away from getting the right connection.

Lane Lakem will come close for New Stars at the 16 minutes after he wound himself in space on the edge of the box but his drive was deflected by Nkuissi Thomas.

The circulation of the ball then focused in the midfield for quite a while as both defenses made sure nothing came close to troubling their Goalkeepers with Olih Jacques cleaning the backline for New Stars as Nkuissi did same for Stade Renard.

New Stars took control of the game creating chances after chances and in the 33rd minute they could have punished Stade Renard but the Renard backline kept on rallying to stop the New Stars front line.

In the 40th minutes Renard forward Tchio benefited from a poor clearance from Kibyen Leonel to win a foul in the box causing Referee Bito Jeannot to point to the Penalty spot for a Stade Renard Penalty and a yellow card for Kibyen. Captain Nkuissi Legrand stepped up and put Stade Renard in front.

Lane Lakem will try to retaliate from a dead ball situation a minute later but his set piece went wide.

A 45th wonderful Tamo Giresse Tinwo shot will be punched away by Goalkeeper Kibyen but Kouayep was around to pounce on the loose ball to make it 2 nil

Second Half

In the second Tamo Giresse took Stade Renard forward again from the first minutes but his run into the box was Stopped by the center referee following a foul on Orian Jores

Lane Lakem will pick a dead ball in the 50th minutes of play after Steve Roberto Nkeuni’s hand ball but his shot was swallowed by Goalkeeper Yokam Emmanuel.

Yokam immediately launched a counter which left Tamo Giresse clear with on goal but he couldn’t make the most of the space he has and the New Stars backline recovered to stop him.

In the 55th minutes of the game Tamo will go and stay down,he couldn’t continue and was replaced.

New Stars will bring in Aristide Biket for Lane Lakem on the hour mark.

Renard will come close again in the 63rd minutes through Mbella Joe Cole but he opted to dribble over squaring in his mate giving the New Stars defense line to recover and clear.

Stade Renard looked relaxed until the 70th minutes when New Stars pull one back from a long range shot that bounced out and the referee pointed to the center and took down Aristide Medjo’s name as one of the 3 scorers on the day.

Nkuissi Thomas will be in the 76th minute for a foul that gave New Stars a dangerous set piece. The set piece was wasted.

Substitute Nelson Morkeu will get close again but Yokam Emmanuel was equal to it.

Stade Renard will on for the rest of the half to eliminate the 2017 champions and move into the quarter final of the cup setting the record of their best run in the cup while waiting for the quarter final draw.
