Super Falcons forward, Asisat Lamina Oshoala make the three (3) women shortlist for 2019 African Women’s player of the year by Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Barcelona Feminino player is shortlisted alongside Ajara Njoya (Cameroon/Valerenga) and Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa/Beijing Phoenix).
Oshoala was on target for Barcelona in their recent Spanish Primera Division Women match to brighten her chance of dethroning last year’s winner Thembi Kgatlana.

Former Super Falcons gaffer, Thomas Dennerby is also shortlisted for African Women’s coach of the year alongside Alain Djeumfa of Cameroon and Desiree Ellis of South Africa.
Super Falcons of Nigeria is also nominated for Women National Team of the year.

Unfortunately, Shanghai Shenhua forward, Odion Jude Ighalo failed to make the shortlist for male footballer of the year. The former Super Eagles forward who emerged as the highest goal scorer during 2019 African Cup of Nations initially made the final 10 shortlist before missing out of the final 3 places.
Mohammed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria/Manchester City) and Sadio Mane (Senegal/Liverpool) made the cut for final 3 nominees for African Footballer of the Year.

The award will take place on the 7th of January In Hurghada.
