The male handball team of The University of Bamenda, one of the medal hopefuls of the institution have been eliminated from the ongoing University games currently taking place in Dschang and Banjourn, West Region of the Cameroon.
Bronze medalist during the games last year in Maroua, the boys of coach Tia Lucien were looking forward to to a very much improved performance in Dschang this year.
But after recording three straight defeats in three matches played, their journey has came to an abrupt end today after loosing 34-30 to IUS.
Speaking to kick442.com shortly after their defeat, coach Tia Lucien said “it’s unfortunate that we have been eliminated this early. We didn’t planned for this but we must accept the results and start preparing for next year”.
During the 2017 and 2018 edition of the university games hosted in Bamenda and Maroua respectively, the handball boys team of The University of Bamenda have always been on the podium. They finished second in Bamenda and third in Maroua.
Coach Tia Lucien and his boys will now go back to the drawing board and start preparing for next year’s competition.
