The Chairperson of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Aisha Falode looked back at 2018-2019 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) seasons with optimism as Nigerians awaits the commencement of the 2019-2020 season come March 18, 2020.

She disclosed this during the 2020 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Congress at the Edo Heritage Hotel, Benin on Tuesday, February 19, 2020.
“The 2019 abridged League in the NWPL was successful and eventful. This extended to the NWPL Super 4 whose final had two debutants; Confluence Queens of Kogi and Adamawa Queens.”
” The high point of the presence of the two cabinet ministers at the NWPL Super 4, 2019, was the promise made by the Sports Minister to help get worthy sponsorship for the NWFL leagues and the commitment made by the Women Affairs Minister to ensure, women football in Nigeria becomes a world class product.” .

Looking ahead of the 2019-2020 season, Aisha Falode said that new opportunities will be exploited as she lauded the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare for his enthusiasm.
“We are going to exploit opportunities in the new season. Let me at this Juncture thank the Honourable Ministers who have demonstrated the zeal and enthusiasm towards the actualisation of the promises made.”

Kwara Ladies and Ubakala Queens gained promotion to the Pro-League with the conclusion of 2020 Amateur League while Royal Queens and Pelican Stars also gained promotion to the NWPL from the Pro-League. Falode praised the organization of the Pro-League.
“The NWFL Pro-League was well coordinated by the Vice Chairman, Rt. Honourable Margaret Incheen. We had no doubt in our minds that she was going to do well. Her antecedents as Benue State FA Chairman, was indeed an added advantage. The promoted teams from the Pro-League to the Premier League will be confirmed in the AGM/ Congress.”

The NWFL AGM/ Congress witnessed the draws for 2019-2020 NWPL which will be an abridged league with sixteen (16) clubs splitted into two (2) groups where the top two (2) clubs will qualify for Super 4.
