“Our attention has been drawn to a purported NPFL table being circulated around the media space wherein Plateau United, Enyimba, and Rivers United were placed first, second, and third respectively. According to the purported table, while Rivers United and Enyimba were tied on the same number of points, a totally strange and inconclusive head-to-head consideration affected by the same force Majeure was used to place Enyimba in the second position.” The release read.

The release stated that Rivers United has made their position known to the NFF, and LMC and is ready to report the case to FIFA, CAF, and CAS.

“It’s obvious that Rivers United is the second-placed team and no amount of false narratives will deceive those who know. We have already made our position known to the NFF and LMC and, we expect that justice will be served out without fear or favour.

“On a final note, we may be compelled to explore all legitimate means available, including formal petitions to FIFA, CAF, and CAS to ventilate our grievances and press for justice.” The release concluded.

It should be noted that the table released by the LMC on Friday based on PPG and Weighted Points Per Game, WPPG system means that Plateau United and Enyimba will represent Nigeria at next season’s CAF Champions League, while Rivers United will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.
There is also no promotion and relegation.

It is now left to be seen whether LMC will rescind the initially released final league table in favour of Rivers United or Rivers United heads to FIFA, CAF, and CAS in reporting their grievances.
