Former AS Fortuna Forward,Abate Leonel Etoundi has agreed a 1 year deal to join USL side,Real Monarchs.
It is the first time the 18 year old striker has signed a professional contract out of Cameroon and kick442.com understands he rejected offers from elsewhere to finally settle on this.
Abate scored 21 goals in the 2017 season and Masterminded AS Fortuna’s promotion to the top flight championship that year in Cameroon but unfortunately didn’t play as many games as in his previous campaign.though he played Just a handful of games he scored 5 league goals last season and was nominated for the Cameroon professional Football League’s young player of the Month award in June 2018 following a streak of 3 goals and 2 assists 3 games.
Abate is a part of the Cameroon team that is participating in the AFCON U-23 Competition to take place in Egypt later this year.He has also played for the U-17’s,U-20’s and Intermediate selections of Cameroon.

Abate could make his debut for his New club in a preseason friendly game which will see the Monarchs face the RSL Academy on February 8th with other friendlies against Utah Valley University on February 18th at home before they travel to Southern California for a final preseason match against LA Galaxy II on March 2nd.
Leonel Abate and his Cameroon under 23 mates face Sierra Leone in the second round of their AFCON qualifiers in March.
