17 year old Cameroonian middle blocker Ruth Manuela Marie of the Volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon has been one of the revelations of the ongoing Africa Women’s Volleyball Championship in Egypt.
The middle blocker has punched beyond expectations in the eyes of many pundits with the calmness in how she goes about her activities in the course of the games for Cameroon in the competition .
The young lady in her debut Senior African Women’s championship has simply been emaculate earning praises from pundits especially in Saturday’s 3 sets to 0 win over host nation Egypt thus justifying coach Jean Rene Akono’s decision to bring the Teenager to Egypt.
Despite being the youngest member of the Cameroonian team, Manuela’s energy and spikes especially in the second set of Saturday’s game against Egypt helped Cameroon win 3 points in a row in a moment that completely changed the phase of the game in favour of Cameroon.
A part of the junior national team set up, Ruth Manuela Marie has made coach Jean Rene Akono’s decision to bring her to Egypt a near perfect decision. Her strength and precision of her service is an absolute bonus for her team.
“It is huge joy for me because it’s my first final in this category of the national team, in the next game against Kenya we are going to give our all to ensure we get the results that is needed in such an important game.”
Should Manuela be on her A game in this Sunday’s final against Kenya then Cameroon is sure to win some crucial points through her.
