Tanzania’s Mbwana Samatta scored against Austrian Bundesliga champions, Red Bull Salzburg to become the first Tanzanian player to feature and score in the UEFA Champions league.
The 26- year-old National team skipper scored to inspire his team to a comeback but failed after a nightmarish first half.
Samatta joined Belgian side Genk in 2016 and was their main man upfront last term.
Genk lost 6-2 to Salzbourg in their Tuesday’s group D first outing in Europe’s elite competition.
They will also face reigning champions, Liverpool and Napoli where the young Samantha is expected to hit-on.
The former Simba SC and TP Mazembe sensation has been greatly affected with a knee injury of late but is gradually regained his top form.
Genk are buttom of their group. They still have 5 games to play despite having an abysmal debut on Tuesday.
