The first ever female Football match in the history of Sudan took place on Monday at the Khartoum stadium.

Sudan is currently under a transition period since the ousting of Omar el-Bechir. Before the match, Sudan was still respecting the charia law since 1983.

The historic match was played between Tahadi FC and Difaa.
According to the Sudanese minister of Sports Wala Essam, “it’s a historic match, not only for female football but for the whole of Sudan”.

After the match, the players were very happy and said this moment was never ever imagined. “Before the revolution in Sudan, my plan was to travel and play abroad, but now I can play in my own country“, says Asma Abubakr player of Tahadi FC.
